We are also looking at setting up a Run Club in Newcastle for our students living outside of Sunderland during their clinical years.

This is a great opportunity to meet other students, increase your running ability and unwind after a busy day at uni. The group is open to all genders and running abilities and also organise some fun socials throughout the year!

We love that this group provides a safe way to run together during the dark winter nights. We understand that many people, especially women, may feel uneasy running alone when visibility is low. Running with the group offers a much safer option—and the bonus of making new friends along the way!

The club is led by one of our own students, Anya Middleton, a highly skilled and trained self-defence instructor.

Anya conducts weekly sessions in the Priestman Building on City Campus, where she teaches medical students how to safely apply self-defence techniques. This is a fantastic opportunity- attendance is completely free and few universities offer a program like this!
